SRI LANKAN STYLE PIZZA

Pizza Dough Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups all purpose flour
1 pkg yeast(2 tspn)
1 cup warm water
1 tbsn sugar
2 tspn salt
1 tbsn oil

Method

Add the yeast to 1 cup warm water and stir it well.In a bowl combine the flour, sugar, salt. Make a well in the center and pour oil and yeast mix. Stir until it forms a ball. Then turn it out onto a clean floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
Put the dough in a bowl, cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about an hour. Punch down the dough and reshape into a ball once more and let it rise.



Vegetable Pizza

Ingredients for the topping
1 pkg Mushrooms sliced
1 large onion cut into square pieces
1 bell pepper or banana pepper sliced
Chopped garlic and ginger
1 cup shredded Parmesan or any other cheese
1 tspn crushed red chillie(optional)
1 tomato cut into square pieces

Method

Heat a little margarine in a pan and add the onions and stir fry until light brown. Now add mushrooms ,chopped garlic and ginger. Then add the peppers and stir for a while. Season it with salt ,unroasted curry powder and crushed red chillies. You can add any other vegetable that you prefer. When it's done remove from the stove and set aside. Now take the dough into a floured surface and flatten it out with a rolling pin to a desired shape. Then transfer the dough into a baking tray and add a little tomato sauce or ketch and spread it all over. Now cover the dough with the vegetable mix. Bake pizza at 400 F until the crust is browned and the cheese is golden, about 10-15 minutes. If you want, toward the end of the cooking time you can sprinkle on a little more cheese.




Meat Pizza

Ingredients for the topping

1 lb ground beef/turkey or minced meat
Chopped garlic and ginger
1 large onion sliced
2 green chillies chopped
Vinegar
Ground black pepper
Red chillie powder

Method

Heat a pan and add the ground beef/turkey or minced meat and stir well. Season with salt, black pepper powder and red chillie powder. Now add vinegar and cover the lid and cook well. When the meat is done add the sliced onions, chopped garlic,ginger and green chillies and stir well. When the meat is done remove it from the stove a nd set aside.
Now take the dough into a floured surface and flatten it out with a rolling pin to a desired shape. Then transfer the dough into a baking tray and add a little tomato sauce or ketch and spread it all over. Now cover the dough with the meat mix. Bake pizza at400 F until the crust is browned and the cheese is golden, about 10-15 minutes. If you want, toward the end of the cooking time you can sprinkle on a little more cheese.
